Luciano Manolea arrived in Prague Wednesday night and within 24 hours she had won €63,535 ($79,101).
First she entered EPT Event #20 (€1,000 NL Hyper Turbo) at midnight. The tournament had 211 runners and heads-up Manolea and Daniel Weiman agreed to do a straight chop of the prize money (€30,245 for each player) and play only for the trophy, which Manolea ended up winning.
Then Manolea registered for Event #23 (€1,000 Deepstack Big Ante) Thursday afternoon. This event had 241 entries and even though Manolea finished runner-up to Leo Pietila from Finland, she took home the biggest cash of her live career, €33,290.
The results are even more striking considering the fact that Manolea first began to play live tournaments two years ago. Online the 26-year old Romanian, that goes by the screen name “lyckyno75”, has been crushing for some time now. This year she took down a WCOOP Event for $105,733 and she has won the Women’s Sunday twice. With $2.6 million in online tournament earnings Manolea is no. 1 on the Romanian list of biggest online winners. And with her recent success in live tournaments it will be interesting to see if she can make it into top 100 of GPI Player of the Year Ladies.
Manolea has qualified for PCA in January after winning a $700 satellite, and as she told PokerStars’ blog: “I have had a good end of year, and I truly believe that 2015 is going to be even better for me. I am more motivated than ever and I hope good things are going to come.” Needless to say, so do we!
