Mina Greco Makes Final Table of WPT Choctaw

We are only four days into August and in the infancy of a new poker season. But what an opening is has been! August 1st Loni Harwood won her second historic WSOP bracelet. August 2nd Irina Nikolaidi took down the WPT National London, and yesterday on the 3rd of August CosimaMina” Greco made it to the six-handed final table of WPT Choctaw.

While we have several women winning national WPT Main events – the aforementioned Irina Nikolaidi, Danish player Mette-Louise Christiansen (WPT National Vejle) and Russia’s Natalia Nikitina (WPT National Paris) – we have yet to see a woman winning a WPT Main Event title on the Main Tour. In January Esther Taylor-Brady (E-tay) came close when she finished in 5th place of WPT Borgata, and in February Kelly Minkin got even closer with her 3rd place finish in WPT Lucky Hearts. In March a pregnant Gaelle Baumann made it to the final table of WPT Vienna, finishing in 5th place. Now Mina Greco has the chance of writing poker history at WPT Choctaw.

Mina Greco will enter the final table on Tuesday as the short stack, but with 28 big blinds to her name, she is not in the danger zone yet – and anything can happen. At the start of Day 3 and with 30 players left, Greco was sitting with 21 big blinds, and while players like Erik Seidel, Mukul Pahuja, Bryn Kenney and Jared Jaffe were eliminated along the way, Greco was able to survive quite a rollercoaster day. At one point and with 14 players left Greco was up to 62 big blinds.

WPT champion Andy Hwang is leading the final six with 137 big blind. Darren Elias is second in chips with 102 big blind, and he will be looking to capture his third WPT title:

Seat 1.  Alex Lynskey: 5,925,000 (74 bb).
Seat 2.  Andy Hwang: 10,935,000 (137 bb).
Seat 3.  Darren Elias: 8,130,000 (102 bb).
Seat 4.  Jason Brin: 2,390,000 (30 bb).
Seat 5.  Mina Greco: 2,220,000 (28 bb).
Seat 6.  Jake Schindler: 5,675,000 (71 bb).

The 38-year-old Mina Greco has $7,982 in live earnings. She has guaranteed herself $135,504 so far, but with $682,975 up top there’s so much more at stake for the professional poker player from Katy, Texas. The final table will start Tuesday at 4 pm local time. PokerWomenNews wish Mina Greco the best of luck:
