Day 1a and 1b of the World Poker Tour $5 Million Guarantee Seminole Hard Rock Showdown $3,500 buy-in Main Event are in the book, while day 1c is yet to be completed. Sunday all the remaining players from day 1a, 1b and 1c will return for day 2 at the venue in Florida, where a $5 million prize pool is guaranteed.
At this point Justin Young, Melad Marji and Ryan D’Angelo are in front with respectively 313,200, 297,900 and 271,300 in chips. But there is some notable female players doing pretty well too.
When day 1a concluded it was with Ronit Chamani in 7th place with 180,900 chips. Thus the South African pro – who is currently #1 of GPI Player of the Year Ladies – seems to continue her hot run. On to day 2 is also two WSOP-bracelet winners, Loni Harwood and Kathy Liebert, with 108,000 and 85,600 in their stacks. A little under average in chips is Amanda Musumeci, who is also coming back for day 2.
Jennifer Tilly, who recently had a deep run in the LAPC, is also going to play day 2. She ended up taking #10 in day 1b with 179,600 chips. Nancy Todd is in good shape too with 166,800, just as the former “WPT Ones to Watch” Ebony Kenney with a stack of 100,300. Lily Kiletto, who seems to be here, there and everywhere at the moment is on to day 2 with 82,400, while Mimi “I Can’t Fold This” Luu completed the ladies’ invasion with a stack of 77,500.
With so many female players still in the hunt, it will be interesting to follow the days to come. Is this the WPT where we will finally have the first female champion?
The tournament will play down to a winner on April 16th.
